12.00 Installation “Dow Does the Right Thing” by the artist group The Yes Men

The Yes Men (US) are a group who smuggle out the stories of the fortified compounds of commerce to provide a public glimpse at the behind-the-scenes world of big business. The stories are often both shocking and hilarious.

12.30 Educational lecture and stencil workshop “Graphic code field research in Latvia’s urban environment, using a historical perspective, compositional analysis and gender studies. Facts and possible solutions for improving the situation”

The project involves both studying the situation and offering a possibility of revolution - the choice is left up to each individual. The initiative of the revolution is aimed at weakening patriarchy by integrating images, in the Latvian urban environment, that represent feminine attributes symbolically, thus, sustaining woman as a symbol of fertility and strength and creating balance in the patriarchally oriented society. 13.30 Film programme “Marginality and revolution in short format” by 2ANNAS

Programme, curated by the Riga International Short Film Festival 2ANNAS, presents films that document events linked to the slow revolution or directly reflect changes in the thinking and interests of today's society. Before each film Anna Veilande Kustikova, a moving image researcher, curator and lecturer, will give a brief commentary.

16.00 Performance “Witch Nation: Directive from the Ministry of Information” and show of works by the artist collective FASTWURMS

FASTWURMS (CA) practice looks closely at the things we cannot see — or refuse to see. FASTWURMS creates a panoply of camp performance, costumes, ceremony, Wiccan ritual, collage, installation, cats, dance music, and cheap video production to make visible commonly held taboos around sexuality, desire, cosmology, nature, power, and the occult.

18.30 "Absurd episode from reevolution”, game by Ramona Buša-Virtmane and Vladislavs Saveļjevs

“Absurd episode from reevolution” is a role game exclusely created for the fifth “Survival Kit” with the aim of enabling any visitor to the festival to feel the exotic flavour of the revolution on their own skin, by becoming a significant revolution creating element.

From 19.30 Continuous sound art improvisation by the vocal and instrumental, psychedelic music ensemble "The Smoking Caterpillars"

The Smoking Caterpillars (LV) create harmonious, uninterrupted and fluid musical drawings, the totality of which commingles today's customary order of sounds and brings it closer to atonal music. The compositions are not created in advance - they arise from the emotional impressions of the moment. The music created by The Smoking Caterpillars draws in every like-minded soul. Members of The Smoking Caterpillars include: Organist Rudolf “Stoney Keys”, vocalist and bassist Gatis “Jesus”, electric guitar master Rihards “The Magic Riff”.

20.00 Presentation of creative activity “Leftovers of Endurance” by artist Nina Kurtela

Artist Nina Kurtela (DE/HR) will present her research project “Leftovers of Endurance” – together with other researchers from different fields she  summarizes, archives and initiates discussions about various questions on the theme “durational performance”.

22.00 Concert and performance by "Doctor Klisickis’ Laboratory"

In their laboratory-observatory at Pokaiņi Forest, the creative formation “Doctor Klisickis' Laboratory” (LV) are engaged in their studies of human existence, life and death. The members of the formation, laboratory assistants, before joining the group have taken part in other music collaborations such as “PK-25” and “Naked Truth”.

Dr. Klisickis sat back in his chair and allowed it all to take him over. His work, like a river stream, thoughts carried him ever further and deeper. After all, he had done it all so you could be a new. See you at The Laboratory!

16.00 Revolution in the Bathroom. Fingerpainting workshop for kids and the film “Kurts šmorē, lai atpūtinātu galvu”

An event for kids and their parents, where with the help of finger-paint, brushes, paint-scrolls and stamps the ex-bathroom of Lāčplēša 60 will be completely transformed. To take a break from the creative work, SURVIVAL KIT will show the video from the Riga Student Castle play “Kurts šmorē, lai atpūtinātu galvu”, that has been made with the support of the European  Fund for Integration of Third-Country Nationals (75%) and state finance (25%).

Street Choreography for Beginners

Over the course of the workshop, Israeli artist Omer Krieger will invite to participate in public space interventions designed to test various ways of creating situations based on political activism. Participants will create forms and structures using their bodies and specific elements of stage design as their main instruments. The presence of political activity may be conflicting, provocative and exciting. It is a collective practice that subjects common place and time. Human chain, circle, conversation, a new kind of demonstration - a political dance with the city.

Representatives of various arts and cultural organizations, curators, artists, and activists from Finland, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, Russia, Israel, Egypt, Ukraine and Latvian will come together to discuss the benefits and challenges of working outside centres of art and power.

17.30 Concert with prose readings and guest-artists’ performances “My Private End of the World”

While waiting for the end of the world writer Andis Geste presents his book “6. atols”. Author of illustrations: Ieva Saulīte, editors: Pēteris Draguns and Ilze Ķīķere. The walls will be spared, however, the visitors will be entertained by sparkling performances and readings of the book by acknowledged personalities.

20.00 Brooding over Activism

Philosopher Normunds Kozlovs (lecturer at Rīga Stradiņš University and Liepaja University) invites all those who are interested and curious, including the latent activists, to join him for an informal discussion about activism today.

An activist - usually a young and vivacious person who spends his/her time in a company of like-minded people, united by similar world views, style, interests, and eating habits. Usually, an activist is fighting against the established economic or political situation, and is in favour of “something” opposite and alternative. Tends to move around in groups, occasionally organizes public campaigns. Often has adverse health habits, which are offset by a healthy diet.

Survival Kit 5 in collaboration with the Sarkandaugava Development Association will be holding a varied programme inviting to “occupy” Sarkandaugava in order to turn it from the underrated outskirts of Riga into the epicentre of events at least for one day.

“Occupy Sarkandaugava” will encourage to explore this historic neighbourhood of Riga that, at the beginning of the 18th century, Tsar Peter I had intended to develop as the new centre of Riga. What is the area that under different circumstances could have become the new city centre like? What would the city be like if in order to get to the centre one would have to go to Sarkandaugava and not the other way round?
