Workshop by TOK curators: ”Art in Public Places: Theory and Practice”
11 pm - 14 pm Creative centre "Brasalona" at Gaujas iela 5, Riga

TOK presents a lecture about art initiatives in the urban environment using their experiences to investigate what art in public places represents today. In the second half of the workshop the participants will have an opportunity to present and discuss their future projects with TOK curators who have for some time now concentrated on inter-disciplinary contemporary art processes in their own work. In order to apply for the workshop please send your application to untill August 25.

Jekaterina Lavrinec's creative workshop "Street Komoda"
Līksnas iela 26, Riga

"Street Komoda" is a specific piece of urban furniture in the street of Vilnius, created by urban researcher Jekaterina Lavrinec in collaboration with street artists. Its purpose is to provide a place to store and exchange objects found in the urban environment - everyone is free to leave or take an object he or she likes. Jekaterina Lavrinec will oversee the creation of another cupboard in the street of Riga.

Creative workshop by Konstanze Schmitt
The former 'Boļševička' Textile Factory

Konstanze Schmitt will encourage discussion about the possibility of a social utopia today, including in Latvia, by analyzing the futurist visions of the Soviet avant-garde. The goal of the workshop is to stimulate discussion between different generations, talking about real life experiences and avant-garde utopias, bearing in mind that people's biographies will always contain experiences that are at odds with ideologies and perceptions.
